Ahmed Shuja Kidwai Becomes New CEO of Al-Baraka Bank, Replacing Shafqaat Ahmed!


Al Baraka Bank has appointed Ahmed Shuja Kidwai as the CEO – Chief Executive Officer. He has an overseas banking experience of more than 4 decades and will show essential results in the bank’s further achievement in Pakistan.

Shafqaat Ahmed has been replaced Ahmed Shuja as the CEO of the Bank. Shafqaat Ahmed has given time to the bank for a nice 25 years. As of March 1st, Kidwai has initiated his service in the bank.

The choice of employing Kidwai as Bank’s CEO was done in a Board of Directors meeting.

Chairman Al Baraka Islamic Bank Bahrain, Khalid Rashid Al Zayani, acknowledged the new President Shafqaat for his outstanding leadership and work for the bank.

Khalid Rashid acknowledged the prolong services of Shafqaat in the bank, both at the business and banking level. He pointed out Shafqaat Ahmed’s part in bringing Islamic Banking to Pakistan. Furthermore, he pointed out the former president’s input in making Al Baraka Bank a network with 200 branches in more than 100 cities.

Al Baraka Banking Groups’ President and CEO and Chairman, Adnan Ahmed Yousif, recognized acknowledged Shafqaat’s services and greeted the new CEO stating,

“While thanking Mr. Shafqaat and wishing him well in his future life, I am delighted to welcome Mr. Ahmed Shuja Kidwai as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Bank. Mr. Kidwai has been associated with Al Baraka Bank Pakistan since January 16th, 1996.

He has played instrumental role in establishing and consolidating the Bank’s positioning in south especially Karachi.

He has got four decades of diversified International banking experience with proven track record of his business acumen, customer focused and employee centric style of Management.

We are confident that he will continue his predecessor’s career in expanding the bank and strengthening its position in the Pakistani market.”
