Habib Bank Limited was established in Bombay in the year 1941. Since its establishment, the bank been quite successful in proving efficient banking services in a wide customer base. Being the first commercial bank of Pakistan, it even took the first initiative to open an international branch in Sri Lanka in the year 1951. The next step taken by the bank was to move its headquarters in Karachi, where Habib Bank Plaza was opened. The year 1974 saw the nationalization of the bank. Later in 2003, the bank was privatized by the investment of Agha Khan Fund to economically develop the country.
HBL has a huge network of branches spread out in 25 countries whereby having around 1500 branches only in Pakistan. In 2015, the total assets of the bank were Rs. 2.2 trillion and the net income was found out to be Rs. 35.1 billion with a revenue of Rs. 114.74 billion.
Today, the bank has more than 14,000 working employees involved in various sectors. The bank provides personal, business and Islamic banking services.
